DIAGNOSIS: Multiple Sclerosis

COUNTRY: Saudi Arabia

Before Treatment:

Abdulrahim was presented with progressive motor disturbance for the past 15 years. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

His mental status was weak. His speech was slow and slurred and his reactions slow. Memory, calculation and orientation abilities were weak. It was difficult for him to move his eyes to the left or right. Both eyes shook horizontally. His tongue protruded to the right side as a result of muscle atrophy. His mouth averted to the left and when examining the teeth, his uvula was seen averting to the right. The pharyngeal reflex was weak. The muscle force of his right upper limb was 3 degrees, gripping strength was 4 degrees and the right hand was stronger than the left hand. The muscle force of his right lower limb was 1-2 degrees and the muscle force of his left lower limb was 0-1 degree. Tendon reflex in all four limbs were weak. Sucking reflex was positive. The jaw reflex was negative. Bilateral Hoffmann sign was negative, bilateral Babinski sign was positive. Sensitivity to pain was poor on the right side. He had problems with touching his finger to his nose during the finger-nose test and he also had difficulty with the steadiness of his legs during the legs follow the knees test. Movement was uncoordinated in both lower limbs. After his admission, he was given a full medical examination to ensure the correct diagnosis. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Secondary Epilepsy, and Hypertension.

Treatment:
